２月３日は節分の日です。
全国的に豆まきが行われますが、大阪を中心とする関西地方では「恵方巻き」という独特の風習も根付いているそうです。
節分の夜に、恵方（その年の福徳の神が在すると考えられている方角）に向かって目を閉じ、願い事を思い浮かべながら太巻き寿司（恵方巻き）を丸かじりするというものです。正確な起源は定かではありませんが、江戸時代に大阪の商人たちの間で商売繁盛の祈願や厄払いの意味合いで始まったといわれています。

A familiar custom on the day, depending on the region, is to eat an uncut sushi roll called 「恵方巻き」,which is believed to bring good luck. When doing so, one should be facing a particular
direction. This year the recommended direction is north-northwest.
